States Coffee in Martinez is a spacious, well-lit coffee shop and roastery that fits comfortably into the rhythm of daily local life while also serving travelers passing through the nearby Amtrak station. The vast interior, punctuated with high ceilings and plenty of seating options—ranging from large communal tables to smaller cozy corners—makes it a practical spot whether you’re settling in for a focused work session or casually catching up with friends.

The coffee here stands out for its quality and variety, from classic espresso drinks like cappuccinos and mochas to more adventurous options like the honey latte with oat milk or the cold brew reserve. Locals often pair their beverages with fresh pastries such as the cinnamon donut, cheddar and green onion scone, or the ever-popular banana bread. Offering both traditional and vegan donut options quietly shows attention to diverse tastes without gimmicks.

Morning visits strike a pleasant balance between calm and community buzz, especially on weekdays around 9am when the space is roomy enough to spread out with a laptop but not so empty as to feel sterile. Outdoor seating gives the option to soak up sunlit mornings, with a simple yet effective decor that leans into natural light and open space rather than cluttered decor. The staff’s approachable manner helps soften the large footprint, making the room feel inviting rather than overwhelming.

Its location a short walk from the Amtrak station makes it a convenient pit stop for commuters wanting to grab a quality drip coffee and a pastry before hopping on the train. Metered street parking nearby adds to ease of access for drivers too. The place is known to attract a mix of remote workers, students, and locals who value good coffee at reasonable prices in a community-minded atmosphere.

If you’re passing through or looking for a dependable coffee shop with solid drinks and enough room to breathe, States Coffee offers a consistent experience that balances quality with comfort—whether you sit inside surrounded by the buzz of a large café or outside quietly enjoying a morning latte and fresh toast topped with ricotta and cranberry compote.

Probably one of the best coffee shop and coffee roasters in notthern california. Their beans are so rich and very well priced. They also have such lovely staff which makes this large place a great spot to hang and work.

Delicious drip coffee and pastries! This might be the biggest coffee shop I’ve ever been to - plenty of room to work and hang.

This place is good y'all! Coffee on point. Baristas are really kind. The space is large but inviting. The scone I had was delicious. It's within walking distance of the Amtrak station so it's a nice place to grab a coffee and a pastry before your trip. I highly recommend this coffee shop!

Enjoyed the seasonal coffee, should have asked if the bread couldve been warmed up. Nice seating area, spacious, high ceiling. Has wifi, wasnt too busy around 9am on a Friday. Has a few larger tables for big groups and smaller seatings inside and out. Metered parking nearby. Also, watch out for that suspicious raccoon outside.

Love the simple decor and the latte was perfect. I sat outside enjoying seating in the morning sunshine. Will be back!

Best coffee I've had in a long time. Staff is great. They roast their own coffee on site. Lots of space to work or even events. It's simple... GREAT Coffee and a place to drink it. Indoor and outdoor seating.
